Tag UR It! Inc. has so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! …Including PIE! Easy as Pie, Pie Recipes!

The Tag Team is very thankful for all the amazing things that have happened for Tag UR It! inc. over the last year!  We have all been busy engraving, making name tags, and putting together recognition awards everyday! Business is booming, and the entire Tag Team truly enjoy coming to work each day!!

Of course Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks for all we have in our lives.  Its a time to spend with friends and family.  It is also a time to enjoy some amazing food!! This year, its all about the PIE!! Sometimes, simple is best! I will be making some simple, traditional Thanksgiving pies to brings to dinner this year!

When I think of fall deserts, I immediately think pumpkin pie, apple pie, and pecan pie!

I’m all for an easy traditional pumpkin pie! I’ll be making a version of Pillsbury’s Easy Pumpkin Pie this year! The recipe is so simple and it tastes amazing! I always believe you eat with your eyes first, so a beautiful pie is just as important as how it tastes! This year, I am going to have some fun with pie dough! Nothing says November like some festive fall leaves!

Photo from “Share Alike Cooking”

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1  1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (15oz) pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
  • 1  1/4 cups evaporated milk or half and half
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 pre-made or frozen pie crust

1. Heat oven to 425°F. In large bowl, mix filling ingredients. Pour into pie crust.

2. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F; bake 40 to 50 minutes longer or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool 2 hours. Serve or refrigerate until serving time. Store in refrigerator.

I also love a classic pecan pie! Growing up, the only pecan pie I knew and loved was the recipe from the back of the Karo Syrup bottle.  To this day, I use a variation of that recipe to make a simple, traditional favorite!!

Photo from KaroSyrup.com

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Karo® Light OR Dark Corn Syrup
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) pecans
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked or frozen pie crust

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Mix corn syrup, eggs, sugar, butter and vanilla using a spoon. Stir in pecans. Pour filling into pie crust.

3. Bake on center rack of oven for 60 to 70 minutes (see tips for doneness, below). Cool for 2 hours on wire rack before serving.

RECIPE TIPS: Pie is done when center reaches 200°F. Tap center surface of pie lightly – it should spring back when done. For easy clean up, spray pie pan with cooking spray before placing pie crust in pan. If pie crust is overbrowning, cover edges with foil.

I am just as much of a purist when it comes to apple pie! I love the look of a golden brown lattice topped apple pie! Last year, Catheryn made a beautiful apple pie with a lattice top and cut pie crust fall leaves over the top of the pie! I can’t wait to see what she is able to do this year! My apple pie recipe is pretty traditional with a few extra little additions that I always remember my grandmother adding to her apple pie!

Photo from Bonappetit.com

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • a pinch of ground allspice
  • a pinch of nutmeg
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a splash of apple cider
  • 3 pounds of crisp good cooking apples (I love Granny Smith) peeled, cored, and sliced 1/4-1/2 inch thick
  • **2 pre-made, refrigerated pie crusts
  • **(1 large egg and 1 tablespoon cream for egg wash)

1.Heat oven to 425°F. Place 1 pie crust in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate. Press firmly against side and bottom.

2. In large bowl, gently mix filling ingredients (except those with **); spoon into crust-lined pie plate.

3. Roll out second dough disk on floured surface. Cut into twelve 1-inch-wide strips. Arrange 6 strips across pie. Form lattice by arranging 6 strips diagonally across first strips. Gently press ends into crust edges.

4. Brush lattice with egg wash and top with decorative pie crust leaves if you wish!

5. Bake pie 10 minutes.  Reduce oven tempurature to 375°F. Continue baking until juices bubble thickly and crust is deep golden, covering edges with foil if browning too quickly, about 1 hour 20 minutes. Cool on rack 1 hour.

Name Tags From Sea to Shining Sea

This week, I made the 3000 mile journey across country, moving from Rhode Island to California.  I am so excited to finally be working full time here in Southern California at Tag UR It! Inc. headquarters!  Tag Team President, Catheryn, flew out to the east coast to make the journey across country with me.  Along our way, we have seen parts of this beautiful country we may have never seen if not for this trip.  From the mountains, to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam…We have seen it all!  There is a Jason Aldean song called Fly Over States that perfectly describes the beauty of land we drove through. (Click here to listen: Fly Over States)

They’ve never drove through Indiana
Met the man who plowed that Earth
Planted that seed, busted his ass for you and me
Or caught a harvest moon in Kansas
They’d understand why God made those fly over states

I bet that mile haul in Santa Fe freight train engineer’s seen it all
Just like that flat bed cowboy stacking US steel on a three day haul
Roads and rails under their feet, yeah that sounds like a first class seat
On the plains of Oklahoma
With a windshield sunset in your eyes
Like a water-color painted sky
You’ll think heaven’s doors have opened
You’ll understand why God made those fly over states

Take a ride across the Badlands
Feel that freedom on your face
Breathe in all that open space
And meet a girl from Amarillo
You’ll understand why God made…
You might even wanna plant your stakes
In those fly over states

Leaving Rhode Island just in time to outrun the devastating Hurricane Sandy, we made our trip across country in 5 days, staying at hotels in PA, IL, NE, and CO.  Coming from Rhode Island and having family in Connecticut, many of my friends and family have felt the destruction of Sandy.  So many people are going to be rebuilding their lives from scratch having lost everything in this horrific storm.  Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and the millions still without power.

Eating all of our meals out and staying in a variety of hotels, we noticed a vast selection of name tags worn by the friendly hotel and restaurant staff nationwide! Tag UR It! Inc. is proud to say that we carry every variety of name badge we saw throughout our 3000 mile trip! From plastic name tags, to unisub name tags, to beveled metal name tags, to engraved name plates… the variety is endless! Tag UR It! Inc. can create the perfect name tag for any company and seeing the many varieties all across the country inspires us to continue providing the best variety of name badges out there!

Check out some of our photos of the beautiful views from our trip!  I am so excited to be here in Southern California! Now that I am in the office full time, you will hear a lot more from me here on our blog! Stay tuned for some exciting new products and projects!!

As always, check out our website for more information on our products!

Football season and the power of name recognition! Happy Patriots opening game!!

Today was the first game of the season for the New England Patriots!!  Now I will be the first to admit that I have always been a bandwagon football fan at best.  In previous seasons, it was only as the Pats neared the Super Bowl that I watched a game…and even then I didn’t really understand what I was watching! The half-time show has always been my favorite part of Super Bowl night!

But this is beginning to change!!! It is because of the Tag Team Prez, Catheryn, that I have a new love and appreciation of football!  Are you ready for a really good laugh?? Catheryn taught me the basic rules of football is terms she thought I would better understand!

I’m a bit of a girly girl, and believe it or not, I actually kind of got a grasp of the rules of football through this fabulous explanation!

Today, I was able to watch the entire Pats game, understand what was going on, and totally enjoy it!!!

While watching the game, I noticed how often the back of a player’s jersey was flashed across the screen for the viewers at home to easily see which player was just involved in a play.  It’s all about name recognition!  Players’ names are printed on the pack of their jersey.  Their name and number, along with team logo, become iconic through that jersey.  A name tag can work the same way!  You see, name recognition works the same way in any business setting! Name tags become the iconic symbol of many customer service based companies, making employees recognizable to customers upon first glance!  A player’s jersey is like their name tag! Players are motivated to do and be their best while they are wearing that jersey, on and off the field.  With new Tag UR It! Inc. name tags, your employee motivation will skyrocket! Each and every person on your staff will want to strive to do their best, proudly wearing a badge that gives them recognition by name as a member of your team!

I really enjoyed my relaxing Sunday on the couch watching the Pats’ first victory of the season! May there be may more victories to come!

Go Patriots!

For the love of MacBook! ….and Name Tags!

Tag UR It! Inc. definitely has a love of Mac!

After falling in love with the Tag UR It! Inc. iPad, the Tag Team decided to take the plunge and learn more about Apple products.  Over the last 2 years, all Tag staff have begun using iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks! It is amazing how much having Apple products can change the way business is done in any company!  The 13 inch MacBook Air and the brand new 15 inch MacBook Pro with Retina display are the newest additions to our company computers.  We are still exploring all of the new features of the Mountain Lion operating system as well as all our MacBooks have to offer, but here are a few things that have changed the way we do business on a daily basis thanks to Apple!

  • Graphics: There are so many great things to say about the graphics on all of our Apple products! Viewing our products, the logos we work with, and our beautiful new website in such high definition takes away any question as to how great our image quality is!
  • FaceTime: As a Tag Team member currently living on the east coast, it is often a challenge to feel connected to the main Tag UR It! Inc. headquarters based in Southern California.  FaceTime has completely changed the way our staff is able to communicate.  Because of FaceTime video conferencing, I am able to jump in on weekly staff meetings and never miss anything important that is happening at the office!
  • iCloud for Calendar and Email: We have a very busy staff, always juggling many commitments, meetings, and deadlines.  iCloud allows us to always know exactly where we are supposed to be! By using the calendar applications on all of our Apple devices, the iCloud keeps them in sync with each other.  I can tell my Macbook to remind me of a meeting at 2pm, and my iPhone will remind me if I am away from my desk at that time!  Between the calendar and email syncing to all of our devices at any time, we are always in touch with our customers and fellow staff whether we are at our desks or on the road!
  • Creativity and Movie Making: Anyone who follows Tag UR It! Inc. in the social media world knows that we love our fun movie trailer series! iMovie among other movie making software that Mac offers allow us to create professional advertising videos with ease. I will definitely be learning a lot more about movie making in the future and cannot wait to produce more great advertising material!
  • Integration of Dropbox: Dropbox and Mac computers can now be linked to share files with complete ease! Right along with all of the other folders on my hard drive is my Dropbox folder.  We do a lot of file sharing between staff members here at Tag.  From sharing high resolution product images to sales letters, Dropbox integration within our hard drives allows us to share folders from coast to coast with ease.
  • iBook Publishing: Electronic books are definitely one of the hottest things out there! One of my newest projects is going to be publishing our first iBook of feature products! Stay tuned….

While Tag UR It! Inc. is still slowly making the switch over to Apple and still has a ways to go, we are thrilled with the beginning of our switching process!  Our MacBooks are going to help Tag UR It! Inc. grow even more!  Does your business use Apple products? We would love to hear from you!  We are definitely still learning and would love to read your suggestions in the comments below!

Jackie is definitely the new baby of the family, and of course everyone in her new life here at Tag UR It! Inc. wants to keep her safe and sound! A Magical Moment in the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland! …and the name tags all around!

What a week for the Tag Team! As a member of the Tag UR It! Inc. team, currently living 3000 miles away from the Tag Headquarters, I was so excited to have the opportunity to spend this week in Southern California.  I have spent the last few days with the Tag Team of Catheryn and Heidi, experiencing some of what Southern California has to offer and enjoying some much needed fun.

Day 1: Dinner at the Capital Grille

Lobster Mac-N-Cheese (via twincitiesrestaurantblog.com)

My first night in sunny California was completed with the best dinner I have ever had.  Catheryn and Heidi took me out to the Capital Grille in South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa.  I had no idea what a treat I was in for!  The Capital Grille’s elegant dining room provided an amazing, sophisticated atmosphere.  We were seated next to the wine room, able to admire the many varieties of bottled wines in their glassed in center room.  After being seated, our wonderful server came over and introduced himself.  Of course, we looked upon his name tag and learned his name was Lorn before he even had a chance to open his mouth.  Lorn could not have been a more perfect host during our dinner.  His recommendation of the Lobster Mac-N-Cheese was spot on! I am a Rhode Island girl and have had quite a bit of lobster in my life.  I can definitely say this was one of the best dishes I have ever had!  The dish is made of a baked Campanelle pasta and fresh Lobster meat, tossed in a Mascarpone, Havarti and Grana Padano cream sauce, topped with Panko bread crumbs and grated white cheddar. (www.thecapitalgrille.com)  It is listed as a side dish but we shared an order as an appetizer before our amazing main courses. Lorn was so helpful and friendly, making our dinner and experience one to remember.  It wasn’t until after our amazing meal that I realized that the Capital Grille has locations nationwide, including one in my home state of Rhode Island.  I will surely be visiting the Providence location upon my return home! I am already craving another serving of Lobster Mac-N-Cheese.

Day 2: Disneyland!

Tag Team takes on Splash Mountain!

I have always been a princess at heart.  Yesterday was a truly magical day.  The Tag Team was in major need of a happy, excitement filled day.  Our day in Disneyland was picture perfect! The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky! Catheryn and Heidi picked me up bright and early to arrive at the park before it opened.  As the opening music filled the air and the gates opened to the firsts guests of the day, we rushed in and ran to our first ride! By 10am we had been on the 5 biggest rides and were eating breakfast! After enjoying a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake, we were in search of another new and exiting ride to check out.  I noticed the big yellow submarines of the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage and was intrigued.  There was a 75-90 minute wait so we decided to ask about obtaining a fast pass.  A very kind cast member named Robert came over to us and asked if he could answer our questions.  He asked me where I was from and Catheryn told him that I was visiting Disneyland for the first time.  He informed us that the Submarine Voyage did not accept fast pass and of course we were a little bummed out, which he could probably tell from my face.  I was having such a great day, I would have waited in the 90 minute line and have been thrilled to ride the submarine! But instead, Robert asked us if we had ever heard of a Magical Moment.  A Magical Moment can be granted by any member of the Disneyland cast.  Robert gave Catheryn, Heidi, and I each Disneyland badges and escorted us around the line of hundreds of park guests waiting to ride the submarine.  He granted us a Magical Moment as we skipped the line and had a great time with Nemo and his friends exploring deep under the ocean on our Submarine Voyage. What an amazing experience! Definitely a memory I will never forget!

A name tag creates a memory.  Two amazing memories were created with the help of two amazing staff members we encountered in the last two days.  It is because of the name tags each of those staff members wore that we were able to make a personal connection with Lorn and Robert and will remember the two staff members who made our dinner at the Capital Grille and our trip to Disneyland so very special this week.

The Magnetic Law of Attraction: Why a magnetic name tag is right for your business!

The law of attraction is a pseudoscientific belief or theory, that “like attracts like,” and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results.

The “Magnetic Law of Attraction” is a belief or theory, that “expensive clothing attracts magnetic name tags”, and that by focusing on using magnets instead of pins, one can never ruin one’s clothing.

Plastic Name Tags

Name tags are everywhere!  In our previous blog, “What’s in a Name”, we showed you how businesses in so many industries use name tags everyday.  There are many options out there, so let us help you decide which option is best for you.  Whether using a plastic, metal, or engraved name tag, using a magnetic backing is the way to go.  Imagine, you’re wearing your brand new silk top and are about to run into a meeting wearing your company name tag.  Not only will a magnetic attachment prevent pin holes and tears, your magnetic name tag couldn’t be easier to put on.  Just place your name tag over any kind of clothing and line up your backing under the fabric.  The magnets will do the rest of the work for you, keeping your name tag in place all day without doing any damage to the clothes you are wearing.   Magnetic backings also last much longer than traditional pin backings as they don’t bend out of place.  The choice should be clear for your business.  Let us help you find the a name tag that will be a great fit! Your Tag Team is always here to help!

Check out Tag UR It! Inc.’s selection of metal and plastic name tags today.  And be sure to select a magnetic backing when you check out!
